What our Pathways to Write schools say...

Pathways to Write has completely transformed English

Farnworth CofE Primary - Assitant Headteacher

Pathways to Write has completely transformed English at Farnworth. Staff love teaching the units, which are very easy to follow yet so full of amazing opportunities to develop children’s skills progressively… Children are so engaged and enthusiastic, and staff feel renewed by such a fun, creative approach to teaching… Thank you all for everything you are doing to make English so exciting and inspiring for our children!

I cannot recommend this company or this programme highly enough.

Sacred Heart Catholic Primary and Nursery - Assitant Headteacher

Pathways to Write is now firmly established within our school and the progress that we have seen in less than a year is truly fantastic. Not only do children write for a purpose, but they write for pleasure, with children across all year groups expressing a love of writing. Pathways to Write uses intelligent repetition and application of knowledge and skills across a wide range of genres, using high-quality, vocabulary-rich texts to engage and support the children in their learning. I cannot recommend this company or this programme highly enough.

Pupils’ knowledge of grammar is good.

St Mary's Mucklestone Primary - OFSTED Report

The headteacher has introduced a new English scheme. This is helping teachers plan writing lessons that build on what pupils already know. Key stage 2 pupils say that they are enjoying revisiting the same book in English. They know the texts well and are becoming better writers. Pupils’ knowledge of grammar is good.

Pathways to Write has transformed the way in which we teach English.

St Catherine's RC Primary Deputy Head

Pathways to Write has transformed the way in which we teach English. Our children are more engaged, are writing more, reading more and love learning. It has also helped to ensure our English curriculum is progressive and takes on a mastery approach to developing writing, and we are seeing a real difference already.

FAQ

  • We do not want to restrict topics and themes. Is it possible to be flexible with Pathways to Write and move some units around, or change some of them if needed?

Yes. Pathways to Write does provide a full writing curriculum but is also designed so that schools can tailor it to their own curriculums. We do provide a curriculum map to link texts and curriculum as part of the package. If texts do not match your learning links, some could be moved around to ensure close links to curriculums. We will always give advice on this if you contact us to ensure continuity of skills. The mastery keys can still be used if a school wishes to replace a text with one of their own as well so it is extremely flexible.

  • Is mixed year group planning available?

Yes. There are 2 cycles: A and B. Cycle A is based on the core texts in P2W for years 2,4 and 6 and cycle B is based on years 1, 3 and 5. The cycles can be purchased separately.

  • How does Pathways to Read link with Pathways to Write - would the class be working on two texts at the same time?

Your P2W text would be your writing focus (with some of the reading links we already have within it). Pathways to Read is more in depth for reading objectives and would be 20-30 mins a day with extracts/pages from texts. The book themes chosen in P2R link to the P2W themes.
